PUNE: The interrogation of a youth arrested on August 7 for burglaries and vehicle thefts revealed that he had committed the crime to raise money for killing his father.
The criminal conspiracy had begun to take shape in the last week of May, when (20) decided to kill his father, Ramesh, and sought assistance from Balasaheb Jadhav (42). Junavane told the police that his father was involved in thefts and body offences and often abused his mother.
“His father had abandoned his mother and married another woman. He wanted to sell some property located on two gunthas in Aundh, for which he needed his estranged wife’s signatures,” an officer from Kondhwa police said.
His father would often beat up and harass his mother and force her to sign the documents,” the officer added.
Frustrated by his father’s actions, Junavane decided to murder him. “Junavane assured to give Jadhav Rs10 lakh and a flat for his assistance. They committed several burglaries and stole a motorcycle between June and July,” sub-inspector Santosh Shinde told TOI.
“The duo wanted to purchase a vehicle and a pistol. We have recovered a bike, two smartphones and a laptop worth Rs55,000 from them,” Shinde said.
The duo were arrested following a tip off near a school at Kondhwa Budruk by policemen Yogesh Kumbhar, Sanjay Kalambe and senior inspector Milind Gaikwad.
“Five cases, including the murder plot and a body offence at , have been registered against the duo. Investigations revealed that the duo had also planned a burglary at a jewellery store in Yavat, but they did not execute the plan,” Shinde said.
“The case has been transferred to the Uttamnagar police for further action. The custody of the suspect will also be transferred to other police stations for investigation,” Shinde added.
