Vadodara: A woman living at Waghodiya Road was cheated of Rs 84,000 by two persons inside Waghodiya Road branch of Central Bank of India on August 1.
Victim Hetal Prajapati registered a complaint at Panigate police station on Saturday.

Prajapati told the police that she visited the bank on August 1 to withdraw Rs 1.9 lakh. After she was given the money by the cashier, Prajapati was keeping the cash in her purse when the two accused approached her. The duo told Prajapati that some of the notes in the wad were fakes and offered to check them.

Police said that while one accused was checking the notes, the other accused diverted Prajapati’s attention. The accused gave one currency note to Prajapati asking her to get it exchanged from the cashier as it is duplicate and returned her wad. When Prajapati asked the cashier to change the note as it was fake, the cashier told her that the note was perfectly fine. The cashier asked the complainant about who informed her that the note was fake, but when Prajapati turned to point towards the duo they were nowhere to be seen.

Prajapati then becoming suspicious recounted her money and found that Rs 84,000 were missing. Police said that Prajapati wanted to consult with her family members before approaching them therefore she gave her complaint late.

Cops have begun search on the basis of CCTV camera footages of the bank.
