KANPUR: The DM and SP of were on Saturday filmed riding a being rowed in flood water by a minor boy in locality of the district. The boy could been seen struggling to steer the boat.

After the video went viral on social media, DM Devendra Pandey said: “Along with me, SP and others were out for an inspection tour of the low-lying areas in in Unnao which have been flooded by the Ganga. It was also just a chance that the boat was being rowed by a boy.” Pandey said, “We never wanted a minor to row the boat. It was a chance that he was present there along with his father. We can’t stop anyone from rowing the boat. We just inspected a fivemetre area and the water was not deep. Had we entered the water without a boat, our clothes could have been spoiled.” He added that the boat was not in the Ganga and the water was only knee-deep.

“If a child rows a boat for a few seconds, can it be said that we were getting the boat rowed by a minor boy in the Ganga? It’s disgusting. We were on an inspection tour. Someone shot a video and circulated it on social media, creating a hype,” he added.
