Rajkot: Three persons were arrested late on Thursday for allegedly bludgeoning to death a labourer on the banks of river Saran in Jetpur of Rajkot district on Wednesday night.
Police said the accused, identified as Vinod Bin (21), Sanjay Bin (20) and Bimlesh Bin (22), all natives of Bhabua taluka in Kaimur district of Bihar, who worked in a factory on Chhaprajpur Road and stayed on the factory premises, had allegedly bludgeoned to death Kokil Mahat (50), a native of Jharkhand, who worked with them.
The accused were arrested on the basis of their call details, which revealed that Vinod had spoken to Mahat on the evening of the crime. Moreover, Mahat’s family members told the cops that he had left the house telling them that Vinod had called him for a meeting.
“During his interrogation, Vinod told us that Mahat had the contract of enlisting labourers for work which he had wanted to usurp and hence he had hatched the conspiracy along with Sanjay and Bimlesh to murder Mahat,” Jetpur police station inspector M N Rana said.
The accused had summoned Mahat on the banks of Saran, where they killed him with stones. On Thursday morning, Mahat’s body was found with a disfigured face.
