BENGALURU: A 25-year-old was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her residence at Immadihalli in Whitefield on Monday.

Police suspect , a native of Haryana and junior engineer with a private software firm in ITPB, may have been murdered. She had come to the city in May. The incident came to light when Vijayalakshmi’s land-lord, , called the police control room on Sunday night after foul smell emanated from her house which was locked from inside.

“The house was locked for the last three days. Thinking that she could be unwell, my wife knocked on the door on Sunday evening and got no response. I went near the window and smelled the stench. I immediately alerted police,” Dinesh said.

The body was in a decomposed state. Police said the room was ransacked though the door and her valuables were intact. “She could have been murdered by a person known to her. We suspect it’s a case of murder for enmity,” they said. Vijayalakshmi had a boyfriend, a from Delhi. “He shifted to Bengaluru soon after she moved to this house. The landlord said he had seen the man at her house. We’re looking for him,” cops said.
