LUDHIANA: , a Ph.D scholar of the School of Agricultural Biotechnology (SAB), (PAU), has been awarded the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) Overseas Visiting Doctoral Fellowship for carrying out his research on ‘Genome-wide Development and Validation of Cost-Effective KASP Marker Assays for Genetic of Heat Stress Tolerance in Maize‘ under the guidance of Gurmukh S Johal, Professor, Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at , USA.

The fellowship programme is the latest initiative of the India-US Strategic Partnership.

Under the programme, he will be given a fellowship apart from medical insurance and contingency grant including overseas travel allowance to the student, Indian advisor and overseas supervisor. At present, he is pursuing his Ph.D programme under the guidance of Yogesh Vikal, Senior Geneticist, SAB, PAU.

The Vice-Chancellor Baldev Singh Dhillon; Dean, Postgraduate Studies Gurinder Kaur Sangha; Director of Research Navtej Singh Bains and Dean, College of Agriculture Surinder Singh Kukal congratulated the student for bringing laurels to the varsity.

The Director, School of Agricultural Biotechnology Parveen Chhuneja also lauded the student for this achievement and wished him all the best in his future endeavors.
