BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister on Thursday announced an assistance of Rs 5 crore for the , said an official source.
As the flood situation turned grim in the , Naveen spoke to his Kerala counterpart and assured all support in relief and rescue operations.
“During the telephonic conversation, the chief minister assured that the Odisha government is ready to extend all sorts of help and cooperation to the Kerala government at this crucial moment,” said an official requesting anonymity.
The death toll in the flood-ravaged state rose to 79 so far since August 8 while more than 75,000 people are reportedly in various relief camps across the state.
Sources in the special relief commissioner’s office said that Odisha may not send relief teams to Kerala as adequate central forces are deputed in the state.
Sources said so far 18 teams of National Disaster Response Force, 22 teams of coast guard, 24 diving teams of Indian Navy and eight teams of Indian army are deployed for the relief and rescue operations.
