CHANDIGARH: After a dry spell which has now lasted over two days, light to moderate are expected within the next two days in the Tricity area, the Met Department reports.
Due to rapid atmospheric changes, which have majorly affected the rainfall patters in the city ever since the onset of monsoon, a “break” in regular showers was predicted to continue during the upcoming weeks as well.

However, due to a high-pressure zone slowly becoming more visible, a gradual increase in shower spells is likely to be witnessed on August 12 and 13. Surinder Paul, director, Chandigarh Meteorological Department told TOI, “The rainfall will increase and is highly expected within the next two days. A gradual increase in the intensity of showers in the Tricity is also predicted. Steady rainfall is rare in this region, hence, the downpour is prone to breaks and might appear a little erratic at times.”

According to the weathermen, special distribution will also improve with the onset of the impending showers expected in the next two days. “It‘s not like rain spells are completely absent from the Tricity region. Within the last 15 hours, minimal to light showers have been observed in various parts of the area. This is expected to improve within the next two days,” Met department official said.

Besides the improved distribution, the intensity of showers is likely to enhance.

The maximum temperature on Saturday stood at 35°C and the minimum was recorded at 27.5°C.
