THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State tourism department, in a couple of weeks, will launch a on Christianity in to lure more international travellers, especially religious scholars, historians and pilgrims.
It will be followed by one on Judaism and another on temple sculpture covering 101 major temples across the state.

The website keralatourism.org/christianity, developed by department‘s IT solution provider Invis Multimedia, has eight sections-history, architecture and murals, feasts and pilgrim centres, artforms, literature, museums, Christian cuisines and lifestyle. The microsite also features five short videos and a picture gallery. The short movies have already been uploaded on Kerala tourism‘s YouTube channel.

“The site will be of great help to travellers, for whom a coordinated information on Christian museums and churches in the state is not available now. Travellers will get to know several interesting facts about various feasts, pilgrim centres and churches,” an official said.

In architecture and murals section, one can obtain information on the architecture of the churches in state and the statues and mural paintings found. Artforms section will talk about Chavittunatakam, Margam Kali, Parichamuttu Kali and Devastha Kali. A visitor can also learn about existing libraries, bible translations, theatre and devotional songs besides other related information.

The most important section is of Christian museums alongside the churches across the state, on which comprehensive and coordinated information is currently absent online. It covers museums like Indo-Portuguese Museum at , St Thomas Museum at Palayoor and Holy Cross Museum at Arthattu.

The Christian cuisine section will give information on various delicacies including Anglo-Indian dishes. The lifestyle section, meanwhile, will elaborate on Portuguese influence, customs, marriages and costumes followed by Christians here. “We hope to launch the site in a couple of weeks‘ time. The work for the site on Judaism has just begun while sanction has been given for the one on temple sculpture,” the official added.
