GHAZIABAD: GDA vice-chairman Ritu Maheshwari is scheduled to meet Union minister for housing and urban affairs on Tuesday during which she will take up the delay in releasing Rs 402 crore as Centre’s allocation for the Dilshad Garden-New Bus Stand metro line.
Though the trial for the metro line is expected to take place at the end of this month, the project is still awaiting Union cabinet’s approval. Maheshwari, who is also the district magistrate, is also expected to take up the proposed metro extension projects — the Vaishali to Mohan Nagar line and Noida Sector 62 to Sahibabad line with the minister.
“The work on Dilshad Garden-New Bus Stand metro line is more than 90% complete and the trial is expected any time soon. So we will request the minister to take up the approval of the project in the Cabinet so that Centre’s share of Rs 402 crore is released,” said Maheshwari. The Public Investment Board (PIB) has already approved the project.
