KOTTAYAM: Raising hopes for a possible union of the various Kerala parties, veteran leader and chairman of the Mani group, K M Mani urged P C Thomas, the leader of the Kerala Congress which is currently in the NDA camp, to take initiative to bring the factions together.

He was speaking at a meeting organized by the P C Thomas faction to remember P T Chacko, the founder of the party, at the KPS Menon Hall here on Wednesday.

“I have become old now. Let P C Thomas take initiative,” said Mani, indicating the possibilities of the various groups uniting. The leaders of other groups, Francis George and Johny Nellore, also joined hands with Mani and P C Thomas soon after and posed for photographs.

Kerala Congress (B) chairman R Balakrishna Pillai did not attend due to health issues. P C George was not invited.

Mani urged the leaders to sit together and think together about unity. He suggested a period of friendship before the . Let this period of friendship be a probation period, he said.

Francis George and Johny Neloore also expressed similar opinions. Nellore went a step ahead saying that if Mani says that only one party is required for all of us we are ready to agree. It was after this declaration the Mani assigned P C Thomas to take initiative.
