MUZAFFARNAGAR: A 25-year-old man was booked and sent to jail for allegedly sharing a ‘derogatory‘ picture of on WhatsApp on Sunday.
The accused, Shahrukh Ahmed, 25, was booked under section 500 (defamation) of the IPC and section 66 of the IT Act. The incident took place in Shahpur police station area where Ahmed uploaded the objectionable post two days ago. Locals approached police and registered an FIR against him.
On Sunday morning, he was arrested and sent to jail. Kushalpal Singh, station house officer of Shahpur police station said, “After a probe, we have found that Ahmed had uploaded the post and the charges made against him had basis.”
This is not the first time that action has been taken against people who targeted the PM online in the region. Some months ago, Raju Kumar, a farmer from Malandi village in was arrested after BJP leader Rajeev Kumar filed a case against him. Kumar had allegedly uploaded a video using foul language against the PM and CM.
