Man kills double murder accused friend in Coimbatore, flees

COIMBATORE: A 42-year-old man, an accused in two cases, was allegedly hacked to death by his friend near Somasundaram Mill road of Coimbatore on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as K Saravanan alias Saravanakanth, a native of Kanuvai. Police said, Saravanan was accused in a murder case of 2008 and another murder case in Race Course police limits.

Police said, Kung Fu Arumugam, a close friend of the deceased was threatened often by the latter for money. Unable to bear the torture, Kung Fu Arumugam murdered him.

Saravanan often borrowed money from Arumugam often and did not repay the amount. So, Arumugam stopped giving money to Saravanan, who later threatened Arumugam with dire consequences, added Police.

On Saturday around 6.30 am, Saravanan was heading towards his home town on his motorcycle. He was intercepted on Somasundara Mill road by Arumugam, who attacked Saravanan. The victim suffered deep cut injuries on his abdomen, chest and hip and was found dead in a pool of blood.

Kattoor police inspector and team rushed to the spot and sent the body to the and Hospital (CMCH) for post-mortem examination. Police sources said that Kung Fu Arumugam made phone calls to a few police officials and told that he would surrender before the police. However, he failed to do so.

A special police team has been formed to nab the absconding Arumugam.
