PUNE: The Pune district has so far recorded 72% sowing in ongoing Kharif season, the latest report released by the state agriculture department has said.
The sowing in Pune district has been taken up on 1.47 lakh hectare area as against normal area of 2.04 lakh hectare.
Pune has the lowest Kharif sowing in the division. Neighboring Solapur and Ahmednagar districts, which are part of the Pune division, have recorded 246% and 100% Kharif sowing so far.
In Ahmednagar, 4.26 lakh hectare area has been marked as normal area for Kharif season sowing. So far, 4.25 lakh hectare area has been brought under cultivation. Solapur district has recorded 246% sowing against normal area of 79,476 hectare. Sowing has been taken up in 1.95 lakh hectare area so far, the report has said.
Significant sowing in Solapur and Ahmednagar districts have pushed up collective sowing in Pune division up to 108%.
Among other major districts in western Maharashtra, sowing in Satara was recorded at 98% Sangli 82%. In Kolhapur, sowing was increased up to 84% of normal area of 3.53 lakh hectare. The state‘s collective sowing in Kharif season was recorded at 92%. About 13.01 lakh hectare of area was brought under sowing so far.
