Kerala is grappling with the worst floods in nearly a century since past week. The government has already sounded an alert for all 14 district. Whilt the state is trying its best to get back to its feet, here‘s how people reclaim their important documents destroyed or lost due to floods.

1) Ration card

Apply for a duplicate ration card in your taluk‘s supply office. The supply office will issue a duplicate card after which you can apply for the new one.

2) Land deeds

People can submit an application for a certified copy of their land deed at the sub-registrar office. The land deed number and the date of registration can make the process easier.

3) Voter’s ID

The procedure to reclaim the voter’s ID is available on the Chief Election Commissioner’s website . People can download the form from the website and submit it to the electoral officer or tehsildar along with a photocopy of the original card.

4) Aadhaar card

Aadhaar number can be traced with details like person‘s name, address and date-of-birth. For this, people can visit the nearest Akshaya Kendra officials can issue e-Aadhaar after verifying details through bio-metric sysetm.

5) Textbooks

Students can submit an application to the DDE office along with headmaster‘s certificate. The DDE office will provide new textbooks.

6) RC book, driving license

People can submit an application at the regional transport office along with the damaged RC book or driving license.

If someone‘s RC or license is lost, he has to print an advertisement in a newspaper after which the RTO can issue a copy of these documents withing 14 days.
