CHENNAI: working president on Wednesday said party president of former chief minister M Karunanidhi’s health condition is better now. He appealed to party cadre not to take any extreme steps.
In a statement, Stalin said 21 party workers had died after Karunanidhi was admitted to hospital in the early hours of Saturday. “I condole the deaths of 21 party workers. I feel sad that so many party members have died after Thalaivar (Karunanidhi) was admitted to hospital. As stated in the hospital press release issued on Tuesday evening, Thalaivar is getting better and is under treatment round-the-clock. Party cadre should not take any extreme steps,” he said.
Stalin said slogans urging Karunanidhi to come back had not gone waste. “Even during heavy rain, party workers were shouting ‘Thalaiva va’ (leader, come back). Those slogans came from their hearts. This has led to the improvement in his health condition,” said Stalin.
The number of party cadre who assembled outside the hospital was very less on Wednesday. The medical bulletin issued by the hospital on Tuesday evening and a photo of Stalin whispering to Karunanidhi reassured the party cadre.
Rashtriya Lok Dal founder and former Union minister Ajit Singh, actors Vijay and Vivek and others visited the hospital on Tuesday and spoke to Stalin.
Speaking to reporters while leaving the hospital, Vivek said, “I wish Kalaingar a speedy recovery. He must return home soon to continue his services to the Tamil language.”
