Jamnagar military station begins drive to preserve environment

Rajkot: The Jamnagar Military Station began a two-month long ‘Van Mahatosav’ recently to spread awareness about aforestation and maintenance of the fragile ecosystem amongst its officers,
During the festival, the participants pledged to protect the environment and planted 2,000 saplings to mark the beginning of the event.

Brigadier Arjun Segan, commander Sindh Brigade inaugurated the plantation drive along with Jamnagar collector Ravi Shankar.

On this occasion, Segan also inaugurated the new environment park inside the Jamnagar Military Station, which is spread over an area of approximately three hectare. The park boasts of varied variety of plants and trees besides a lake in the centre for rainwater harvesting.

The park will enhance the ecological appeal of the cantonment and add to the overall aesthetics of the area and attract number of local as well as migratory birds in future.
