ALWAR: A 17-year-old inmate of a government hostel was found murdered when police found his tied-up body stuffed in the almirah of his hostel room in Alwar, on Wednesday evening.
Rahul Meena, a student of class XII who was living at the government hostel in Rajgarh, is suspected to have been killed by his friend who is currently off the hook. A resident of , Rahul’s body was discovered after hostel superintendent Lakshmi Narayan Meena informed the police about a bad stench emanating from Rahul’s room located on the second floor of the hostel.
The Rajgarh police entered the hostel premises on Wednesday evening and searched Rahul’s room. The police team discovered blood trickling out of the almirah and an acrid stench emanating from the same place.
“When we opened the almirah, we found his body stuffed inside the wardrobe while his hands and legs were tied up with wires,” an official told TOI, adding his body was shifted to the mortuary of a local hospital.
Senior police officials arrived at the crime spot and sealed the hostel room. An FSL team collected samples from the room and sent it for examination. “Rahul was a student of a government school in Rajgarh. The circumstances of his death and the condition of his body, indicate it was a case of murder, the prime suspect seems to be one of his friends who must have been a frequent visitor to Rahul’s room and had access to the almirah’s keys,” an official said, adding that the police have registered a case of on the complaint of Rahul’s parents.
Police told TOI that one of Rahul’s friends, also a suspect in the murder, has been since late Tuesday night. “The postmortem report (PMR) will indicate the time period of his death, but our initial investigation indicates murder must have happened sometime late on Tuesday evening because certain blood spots are congealed, and the odour in the room hints that the crime had happened much before,” the official said.
