CHANDIGARH: Gurgaon district administration has informed the Punjab and Haryana high court that it would take around 10 months to decide on all objections regarding removal of structures within 300 metres of the Indian Air Force (IAF) ammunition depot.
In a detailed affidavit filed on Tuesday, Gurgaon deputy commissioner (DC) Vinay Pratap Singh informed the HC that 4,125 people had filed objections and all efforts would be made to hear and dispose them within 10 months. He added that compensation was required to be assessed in accordance with the provisions of the Works of Defence Act, 1903 and notice had already been issued after obtaining report with regard to list of structures.

On July 25, the HC had directed the collector, Gurgaon, to expedite the process of determining compensation to the residents and file an affidavit about the steps taken in this regard.

The matter had reached the high court in 2010 through a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking removal of constructions from 100m area around Air Force Station, , in Faridabad and construction within 900m around the Gurgaon IAF station.
