The online booking which was to start from August 15 has yet to start leaving the passengers angry. “The has not allotted the terminal to the flight operator. Once the terminal is allotted, the flight operator will start the operations–ticketing,” said Ashok Kumar, Kishangarh airport director.
Kumar said that the matter will be sorted out in the next few days. Sources said if the matter is not resolved in the coming days, the airline might postpone the date of flight operations. The airline has asked permission to operate from terminal-1 as it is connected with concourse while at the terminal-1 passengers has to first board bus to get into the plane. The flight operations from Kishangarh Airport are ready for operations since October 2017. But the airport is yet to see any scheduled flight due to poor feasibility.
Despite the intervention from the state government providing all benefits, no major airline showed interest in operations. The airlines feel that airport‘s closeness to Jaipur (100 km) will be a disadvantage for Kishangarh Airport. The airport while in its last stage of construction made tall claims of flight operations to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Udaipur.
Prakash Hassani, a businessman based in Kishangarh who visits Jaipur frequently was excited to board the first scheduled flight from to Delhi but was left disappointed. “Every day I log into the website to book a ticket but it doesn‘t show anything on the desired sector,” said Hassani. The Kishangarh Airport authorities have proposed a joy ride of children from the slum area in Ajmer.
