BENGALURU: A 38-year-old former armyman was arrested in , , after he fired one round in the air with his licensed pistol to threaten a neighbour.
Police have recovered the pistol from , , Subramanyapura. They are looking for Khandekar’s brother-in-law, Sudeep Surve, who according to police, fled the scene after the former opened fire.
According to police, Khandekar and Surve were talking loudly in the middle of the road late Thursday night. “Khandekar’s neighbour, Mahesh Kumar, said he was disturbed by the loud conversation and came out of the house to see what was happening. According to Mahesh, two drunk men were shouting in the middle of the road. Mahesh asked the duo what had happened and why were they shouting. Irked by this, the two abused and threatened Mahesh of dire consequences for questioning them. Mahesh too warned them that he would summon police if they continued to shout,” police said.
Losing his cool, Khandekar threatened Mahesh that he was an ex-armyman and would shoot him with his pistol. “Khandekar went inside his house, brought out his pistol and fired one round in the air. Mahesh called the police control room and one Hoysala van rushed to the spot,” police said.
Cops have booked Khandekar under different sections of IPC, including 506 (act with criminal intimidation) and the Arms Act.
