BENGALURU: A private firm providing a to its customers, has alleged that one of its former employees tried to extort $50,000 from its after threatening to share the company’s if the amount was not paid.
Arvind Eshwarlal, 42, of , however, obtained anticipatory bail with certain conditions from a sessions court. He moved the court after cyber crime police questioned him and seized his laptop and mobile phone.
The court, however, has given investigators the option to take Arvind into custody, if necessary, for interrogation by filing an application before the magistrate.
Police registered a case against Arvind based on the complaint filed by Venumadhav Indruthi, vice-president (finance and operation) of Pilvo Communications Pvt Ltd, in the last week of July.
Indruthi said Arvind joined the operations division of the firm on November 27, 2017 and sent mails to his colleagues on May 18 and 19 this year, stating he would reveal certain issues concerning the company.
He threatened CEO Venkatesh in a mail sent on May 30 that he would share crucial data of the firm with other companies and its customers. He allegedly demanded that he be paid $50,000 for not doing so.
