Palanpur: , a cash-filled automated teller machine (ATM) was stolen during wee hours on Saturday near chhapi in Vadgam taluka of Banaskatha.
The machine was installed on the outskirts of Rajosna village, some 5 km from Chhapi. Zonal manger of Financial Software & System, North Gujarat, Chiranji Chakrvarti said, “They apparently tried to break open the Bank Of India ATM. But failing to open it, they removed the whole machine and took it away.”
Police sub-inspector, Chhapi police station, P C Desai said cash of Rs 7 lakh was filled in the ATM on Friday. “There was no security guard and closed circuit television was also fitted inside the machine, therefore the burglary could not be captured.”
Police have registered the complaint under Sections 457, 380, 427, 114 of the Indian Penal Code. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
It is first such incidence in the district where the machine has been stolen.
