Rakot: , who allegedly duped a trader of Rs 10.34 lakh under the pretext of performing a tantrik ritual,
Police said the accused, Jhavernath Padhiyar, Prakash Padhiyar, both residents of Makansar village in Morbi, Dilipnath Bamania, a resident of Bhojpara village in Wankaner taluka, and Viram Bagada, a resident of Dared village in Jamnagar, allegedly duped Jatin Jivani, a resident of Shivalik Palace in Morbi, who has a tiles trading firm on Kandla bypass.

Three months ago, the accused approached Jivani, who was going through a bad phase in business, and told him that if he wanted to see a boom in his business and become rich, he would have to perform tantrik rituals. Jhavernath, who had assumed the identity of ‘Ganda Bapu’ and identified himself as tantrik convinced Jivani to perform the rituals.

Believing them, Jivani gave the accused Rs 10.34 lakh in instalments in last three months during which time he was taken by the accused to Dwarka and temples around Morbi, where they performed tantrik rituals.

“However, as Jivani’s financial condition did not improve and as the four were demanding more sum of Rs 3.28 lakh from him, he suspected a foul play. After advice from his friends, he approached us. We decided not to lodge the case immediately and instead told Jivani to call the accused to give them money. When the accused arrived to collect money from Jivani, we arrested them,” Morbi local crime branch sub-inspector R T Vyas said.
