She has also requested the Mayor to call a house meeting over this issue and motivate other councillors to give away their one month salaries for the flood victims.
In a letter to the Mayor, the councillor from ward number 59 said floods have played havoc in Kerala where lakhs of families are homeless and they do not have anything to eat, wear or for their shelter. She said people of Punjab have always remained humble enough to help the needy in any situation and those people are in dire need of help. She said she wants to donate her one-month honorarium for those needy people.
Aggarwal said if she donates one-month honorarium in relief fund of CM of Kerala then it will not bring much difference to her but for those people, it will be a great help and Ludhiana MC being one of the largest MCs of state should lead and also convince others to donate.
However, when ed the Mayor Balkar Sandhu he said, “I have received her request but I am not a dictator and cannot force anybody to donate money but I will keep the proposal in the MC house.” He said he will appeal to the general public as well for donating as much as they can for the help of flood victims.
