Mysuru: The () plant in the city on Wednesday launched India’s first indigenously developed 150T Electric Drive Rear . The launch of the vehicle is in keeping with the central government’s flagship ‘Make In India’ initiative. The vehicle is touted to help offset the growing demand for higher-capacity equipment in the mining industry.
Chief managing director, BEML Deepak Kumar Hota on flagged off the dump truck, which will be put to use in coal fields of Coal India Ltd’s subsidiary, South Eastern Coal Fields Ltd for the Gevra project.

Among the salient features of the newly released vehicle are high-power performance, enhanced productivity, reliability, serviceability, manoeuvrability, and better operating comfort. Besides these features, the truck also has the added advantage of having an eco-friendly emission engine, with an electronic fuel management system that is designed to deliver maximum power and an AC propulsion system to ensure unhampered operations in steep gradients.

“The launch of the higher capacity dump truck will surely secure BEML’s place among a select group of global companies. This will help India in saving money spent on foreign exchange and import substitution, besides ensuring faster delivery,” Hota said.
