Baddi murder: Ex-student held

BADDI: The police have arrested a former student of the school and another person in the principal case.

Bhagat Ram Saini, principal and managing director (MD) of Shivalik Science School, Baddi, was murdered and his wife injured in the early hours of August 13.

The two accused are Narinder Singh (35), a resident of in Baddi and the former school alumnus, and Jaswinder Singh, alias Goldy (37), a resident of Balongi in Mohali. Police had earlier arrested Gurdev Singh, the main conspirator, in the case.

Baddi SP Rani Bindu Sachdeva said three accused during interrogation told they had come with a motive of robbery but killed the principal during the crime.

SP Sachdeva said, “Prima facie it does not seem to be a robbery case. We will know the motive once all the accused are arrested. One thing is established that Narinder Singh is a former student of the school and was one of the main conspirators. He admitted that he told the other accused about the map and design of the school building. He is a relative of Gurdev. The SP said Gurdev and Narinder are the two main conspirators. She said, “Three to four more suspects are to be arrested. Narinder and Gurdev did not go upstairs to the bedroom of the principal, but Goldy is suspected to have accompanied the others to the bedroom to commit the crime.” Police said Narinder probably came into the picture after Gurdev introduced him to the other accused.
