Ambedkar ready to go with Congress, sets terms

NAGPUR: Bharatiya Republican Party Bahujan Mahasangh chief and ex-MP Prakash said the new launched under his leadership is ready for a pre-poll pact with the , if the latter gives it a share of 12 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Ambedkar had convened a conference of his new alliance in the city on Friday. Later, addressing the media, Ambedkar said he would move a proposal to the Congress and seek 12 seats based on the strength of communities that the new Bahujan Alliance represented. He claimed Dhangars, Muslims, nomadic tribes, a large section of OBCs were the deprived communities that the alliance would be representing.

“Right now, Indian politics is trapped between one party that was only interested in a dynasty, and the other hell-bent on religious hatred. But we are ready to go with the Congress Party, which has time and again shown commitment to protect the Constitution framed by Babasaheb Ambedkar,” he said.

The RPI faction leader demanded that the Modi government should come clean on Rafale aircraft deal with France. He also demanded that the RSS should explain how, and in what account, it had changed Rs300 crore of demonetized currency that it had collected as part of guru dakshina before November 2016.

Littérateur Lakshman Mane, a leader of the new alliance, said if they were part of the next ruling power in the state, the first thing they would do is to slap a ban on the RSS.
