THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: All India Primary Teachers‘ Federation has urged the Union government to ensure pay parity among teachers carrying out the same job across the country.
The federation‘s national council meeting, which concluded in on Tuesday, decided to appeal to the Union government to give instructions to all state governments on the need to ensure equal salary to teachers rendering the same service all over the country.
Kerala Pradesh School Teachers‘ Association state president P Harigovindan was elected as the treasurer of the All India Primary Teachers‘ Federation. Rampal Singh (Uttar Pradesh) and Kamala Kanth Tripathy (Odisha) were elected as president and secertary general, respectively, of the federation.
The resolution passed at the national meeting raised several demands like: At least 6% of should be set aside for education sector, conduct of Teacher Eligibility Test should be stopped, old pension scheme should be retained, permanent teachers should be appointed in all vacancies.
