PANAJI: In line with chief minister Manohar Parrikar’s target to make Goa (ODF) by December 2019, the Goa waste management corporation (GWMC) plans to supply 60,000 bio-toilets to eligible households, and has invited bidders to supply and install the units.

Bidders will have to employ technology from the (DRDO to build the bio-toilets and these have to be supplied within 90 days of winning the bid.

The bio-toilets are modular and are designed keeping in mind requirements of Indian sanitary practices. The composite materials used will help in quick installation, even in hilly terrain and remote places.

The units come with high quality vandal-proof fittings and rounded edges to prevent accumulation of dirt and grime, which makes for easy cleaning.

The eco-friendly toilets also come fitted with bio-digesters which helps digest organic material biologically when it converts faecal waste into usable water and gases.
