Rajkot: A total of 40 spas were raided across Rajkot on Sunday on the suspicion of illegal human trafficking and flesh trade being run there.
Rajkot deputy commissioner of police Manoharsinh Jadeja told TOI: “We want to find out whether those girls, who have come from oriental countries such as Thailand, Malaysia and Philippines and from the western countries, such as Russia, to work in the spas, have legal Visa documents for their stay in India or not?
Whether the spas have obtained the shop act licence from the Rajkot Municipal Corporation? Whether the spas running on rent have valid rent contracts, and do they pose any traffic problems?”
More than 200 policemen including women cops from detection of crime branch, special operation group and staff of different police stations took part in the raids. “If any illegal activities are found in the spas, or if the spas are found flouting norms, we will take legal action against the offenders,” added Jadeja.
