THANE: Two more persons have been arrested in connection with the bitcoin case on Thursday. The duo were involved in marketing the con scheme through which thousands of investors were duped, officials from the crime branch said.
The accused have been identified as Chetan Patil (27) and Amit Bharadwaj.

The police said that the duo are close aides of Bhardwaj, the kingpin of the multicrore scam, which was earlier busted by the Pune police. Bharadwaj was earlier arrested for running a similar racket in Kalyan.

According to the police, the company had lured thousands to invest crores of rupees in one of their schemes.

“The victims were asked to invest one bitcoin for which they would get a 1% return. But the company never gave them the returns; instead they fled from the place,” said a police official.

“The duo were involved in marketing the scheme. They had lured hundreds of people and then disappeared. We are investigating the case and are also finding out on how many more people they have duped,” said a police official.
